IV. NAWGJ REPORT
Carole Ide updated the WTC on the activities of NAWGJ. She also updated the committee on the NAWGJ statistics. The TC asked Carole about the reaction of the NCAA coaches to the mandatory Judges Assignment System.
The TC also discussed the judges’ compensation package and asked if NAWGJ had any recommendations for change. Carole will be discussing this with her board at their June meeting. These recommendations will be for the 2007-08 season.
V. JUDGING ACCREDITATION
Recommendation that any sanctioned judging/coaching clinics conducted during the months of June or July may be used for CPE credit for the current accreditation year or for the upcoming year, effective immediately.
Motion: M. Dykes
Second: M. Elfenbein
PASSED
Clarification: Whatever rating a judge holds on August 1 of each year determines the number of CPE hours required for that accreditation year. Entry level judges attaining their rating after the start of the accreditation year are not required to report CPE hours until the following accreditation year. All CPE hours accumulated during that time may be used to fulfill the CPE requirements.
Examples:
Note: With the exception of attaining a level 5/6 or 7/8 rating, judges are still required to complete their annual CPE requirements before testing up to the next Level.
VI. compulsory bars
The committee requested that Connie add an illustration in the Compulsory book for the Level 5 and 6 counterswings, depicting the position that would incur the 0.30 deduction for “Body arched and/or hips open to an extended position with feet over the low bar.”
VII. judges’ training materials
The committee began its work on the evaluation of Level 4-6 Compulsory elements and routines for Judges’ Training DVDs. The order of priority is:
Compulsory Levels 4-6, then Level 10, Level 9, Level 8, and Level 7.
The committee will continue to work on these projects throughout the summer and at their meeting scheduled for September 23-24, 2006 in Indianapolis.
Meeting adjourned at 2:00 PM.
